Documentation
Multi-level BOM
Run projects and products, build a bill of materials to any depth, and release it.
Getting started
Overview
Partix stores every product as a multi-level structure of assemblies and parts, to any depth.
Key concepts
The terms below appear on every BOM screen.
Projects
A project is the container for a programme of work.
Add a product
Products are added from the Products tab of a project.
Staging & Committed
Every product has two areas.
Views
Structure
The Structure tab is the indented BOM.
Summarized
The Summarized tab lists every part number once, with demand added up across every position.
Cost
Where the money sits in a product, and which parts drive it.
Where used
Every place an item appears, across every product in your company.
Editing
Add BOM items
Use this to add assemblies and parts as lines under an existing parent in the Staging Area.
Edit items
Selecting any row opens its detail panel.
Move and remove
Structures change as a design settles. Both operations happen in the Staging Area.
Reuse items
The same assembly can sit inside as many parents and products as you like. It stays one record.
Releases
How releases work
Releasing is called committing.
Commit review
Commit review is the last screen before a release.
Revision vs version
This is the one judgement call in a release.
After a commit
What Partix does the moment a release goes through, and where to find it afterwards.
Sharing
Export to PDF

Share links
A share link is a read-only web page of your BOM, for people without a Partix account.
