The summarized view
The Summarized tab lists every part number once, with demand added up across every position. This is the list you order from.
The Structure tab shows a bracket used in four places as four separate rows. Purchasing wants one line with the total; the summarized view provides that.
The columns
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Item | Name, with its version and revision underneath. |
| Part number | The CPN. |
| Type | Product, assembly or part. |
| Total qty | Demand added up across every position, for one finished product. |
| Unit cost | Price for one. |
| Ext cost | Unit cost × total quantity. |
| Available | Stock on hand, less what is already allocated. Parts only. |
Rows are ordered by extended cost, so the money is at the top.
Places
An item appearing in more than one position gets a N× places label.
- Selecting it opens where-used, which lists each position with its own quantity.
- Use this to see how demand is distributed across the tree.
Shortages
When availability is below demand, the row is marked Short with the size of the gap.
Check this before every build
Sorting by cost puts the expensive items first, but shortages are what stop a build. Scan the Available column for red before you plan a run.
Assemblies show no availability figure. You do not stock an assembly; you stock the parts that make it.
Total material cost
The footer totals parts only.
Assemblies are left out on purpose, because their cost is already counted through the parts inside them. Including both would double the total.
