Share links
A share link is a read-only web page of your BOM, for people without a Partix account. Use it for contract manufacturers, suppliers and auditors.
Creating a link
- Select Share in the toolbar.
- Choose how long it should last: 24 hours, 2 days or 7 days.
- Decide whether to include costs. Off by default.
- Select Create. The link is generated and copied to your clipboard.

What the recipient sees
A plain web page with no login, no Partix account and nothing to install. It shows:
- The full structure, fully expanded.
- Quantities.
- The version and revision it was taken at.

If you included costs, they also get the cost breakdown. If you did not, the figures are not in the page at all. They are removed before it is sent rather than hidden, so nothing in the page source reveals them.
Link expiry and access
Expiry is the whole access model. Behaviour:
- A link stops working when it expires. You cannot extend one, so create a new link.
- Expiry is checked on every visit, not just the first.
- The page is not indexed by search engines and asks browsers not to cache it.
- Views are counted, so you can see whether it was opened.
Anyone with the link can view it
There is no password. Treat the URL itself as the credential and send it the way you would send any confidential document. Keep the lifetime short.
Choosing what to share
| Share | When |
|---|---|
| Committed | Almost always. It is the approved record. |
| A specific release | Pick it in the version picker first. The link follows what is on screen. |
| Staged | Only for a review with someone outside the company. It is a draft and is marked as one. |
Costs
Costs are commercially sensitive.
- They are off by default.
- Leave them off unless the recipient actually needs them.
- A contract manufacturer quoting a build usually does not need to see what you pay for each part.
