Borrowed stock
Everything currently out of the stockroom for a part, who has it, and the action that brings it back.
Find the part in the inventory list, open the row menu, and select Borrowed.
What it shows
One card per borrow. Each names:
- the project it went out for
- the person who took it
- the quantity they hold
- the estimated return date given when it was released
If nothing is out, the dialog says the part is not borrowed.
Marking stock as returned
Each borrow carries a Mark as Returned action. Use it when the stock physically comes back.
The units move from borrowed back to available, and the part becomes usable by everyone again.
Mark it back when it actually returns
Nothing marks stock as returned on its own, and an overdue return date does not clear itself. A part that shows as borrowed for months is usually a return nobody recorded, which quietly understates what you have available.
Partial returns
Stock can come back in stages. Return what has arrived and the remainder stays out against the same borrow, so the record keeps matching reality.
Finding borrowed stock across parts
To see borrowing across the whole inventory rather than one part, use the availability filter on the inventory list and select Borrowed. That lists every part with stock currently out.
