Part settings
Which features are switched on for this part.
Open the part and go to the Settings tab.
Part configuration
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enable serial number | Tracks each unit individually. Moves then ask for specific serial numbers rather than a quantity. |
| Enable part revisions | Lets the part carry more than one revision, each with its own stock. Currently in beta. |
Changes save when you confirm, and take effect immediately.
Turning on serial numbers
Switch this on for anything you need to trace as an individual item: instruments, tooling, assembled units under warranty, anything with a maintenance history.
Once on:
- the Serial Number tab lists each unit with its status, condition and usage hours
- assign and relocate ask you to pick the exact units being moved
- a cycle count that comes up short asks which specific units are missing
Switch it on early
Enabling serial numbers for a part you already hold in quantity means going back and identifying stock that was never recorded individually. It is far easier to decide at the point the part is created.
Enabling part revisions
This lets a part carry several revisions, each holding its own stock. It is marked beta.
Once revisions exist, the revision picker at the top of the part details dialog switches between them, and every figure below belongs to whichever one is selected.
What is not here
Costing rules live on the Costing tab, and the company part number is changed from Change a CPN. This tab is only for what the part supports, not what it is worth or what it is called.
